Now that I am 40!

In January I turned 40!
Here are my thoughts on the big 4-0!

*Now that I am 40 I am going to enjoy every minute of life.  Have fun, be crazy, do silly things.  Laugh!

*Now that I am 40 I am going to stop questioning and just do what I know is right for me, for us, for our family.

*Now that I am 40 I know that a good laugh and a good night sleep are cures for most things.

*Now that I am 40 I know that I have it within me to get where I want to be.  I just need to do it.

*Now that I am 40 I will apologise when I should and let go what I can't change or have no control over.

*Now that I am 40 I will love more and (try) to worry less - yes. I am a worrier.

*Now that I am 40 I am going to make sure I cleanse, tone and moisturise daily.  I guess eye cream will become one of my best friends, too.

*Now that I am 40 I am sinking into who I am and being comfortable and proud of myself.

*Now that I am 40 I want to share my thoughts fearlessly and be proud of my personal opinions and ideas.

*Now that I am 40 I have to get over my nerves when I speak in front of people and just do it.

*Now that I am 40 I count my blessings - my life, my family, my friends, my health.  I am one lucky girl.

*Now that I am 40 I want to find some 'me' time - time to read, time to knit, time to sew.

*Now that I am 40 I know the importance of friends and family and the impact they have on my life.  I want to make a bigger effort to write special notes to them and let them know just how important they are to me.

*Now that I am 40 I realise the fragility of life.  In general, we have no control of what happens we can only control how we react to the life we have been given.

*Now that I am 40 I have embraced being 4ft 11inches (152cm).  Apparently I will only shrink from here on in.

*Now that I am 40 I realise how important personal stories are and what they stand for.  I want to write down my story for safekeeping so I can share them with future generations.

*Now that I am 40 I cannot wait to see what the next 40+ years have install for me.  If it's as good as the 40 I've just had I am one lucky girl.

Off We Go Again...

The kids and I are flying up to Sydney today.  Time to catch up with friends that we didn't see when we were there for Christmas.  I have my crocheting and knitting packed.  To me that's the best part of a flight - no excuse but to sit down and do nothing.  I'm currently working on this project (see my squares below) but I can't take scissors on the plane and I need to cut the wool many times so I don't think I can take it with me...sigh  Instead I will make these super easy wristers.
I hope that Sydney has better weather for us than Melbourne.  Mind you, it was warm here yesterday and today is suppose to be hot, but prior to that, it's been FREEZING.  I've been questioning where summer has gone.  Look at my poor boy on Saturday.  He could not get warm.

Also, I have a new favourite part of Melbourne - South Melbourne.  On Saturday we spent hours wandering the streets.  Such an amazing array of cafes and places to eat great food, a fantastic food market and stores with cool stuff that I wanted to buy.  Even the kids enjoyed looking at the stores without saying - " Can we go home now?" and to me, that is the sign of a good day
I won't have a chance to be here much this week but I hope to post some Instagrams from our time away on the weekend.

Ciao for now! x

40!

In only a few more days, I turn 40!  I was very grateful to have a small celebration while I was in Sydney.  It was at my parents house with immediate family.  I am not into parties at all so this was the perfect way to mark the occasion.

A New Year!

Happy New Year!

We gave a hearty goodbye to 2011, surrounded by some special friends, delicious food, excellent wine and children swimming at the beach, playing and enjoying life to the full.  It was a perfect way to ring in 2012.  I hope it is a sign of the year ahead!

I LOVE new beginnings!  Everyday is a fresh start, full of more love and fun - who knows what may happen?    I also LOVE the beginning of a new year.  I'm not into making resolutions but I love the idea of a new calendar waiting for new event, new possibilities, notes and new challenges.  How exciting!

Now that we are back home in Melbourne I'm looking forward to a few weeks of fun with my kids.  We have a great summer list of things we'd like to do - picnics, beaching, board games, jigsaws, sprinkler fun, swimming and maybe even a zoo visit.

Holidaying!

We are still holidaying in Sydney so it has been a bit tricky finding time to blog.  We're having a fabulous time seeing friends and family.  As much as I love Melbourne I miss my dear friends here a lot.

Christmas was very special and the children kept us entertained with their antics.  It was an action packed day full of family, food and love.  By 7pm I was exhausted and ready for an early night to bed.  Thankfully, the children felt the same and were sound asleep nice and early.

A few photos from our day...

Getting into the spirit of backyard cricket.
Whee!  Lots of running around and pushing each other in the car.  They have both grown out of this but manage to work out a way to still have fun in it.
